PROMOTION OF STUDENTS, EXAMINATION AND CONDUCT OF CLASSES IN THE NEXT SEMESTER/YEAR OF DIFFERENT COURSES UNDER COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In view of the UGC Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities in view of

COVID-19 Pandemic (dated 29.04.2020) and the UGC Revised Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities in view of COVID-19 Pandemic dated 06.07.2020, MHRD Office Memorandum Instructions for conduct of Examinations (F.No. 16-16/2020-UIA dated

06.07.2020 stating the SOP for Examinations and the decisions taken in the meeting of the Examination Committee of University of Allahabad dated June 15, 2020, the University of Allahabad notifies as under:

1. The University will conduct the examinations of the final year/final semester students of UG and PG, Law and Professional courses as per directions of UGC and the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
The duration of the examinations shall be of two hours only and students will have to answer any four questions or accordingly.
The assessment of the students in the practical laboratories will be done on the basis of assignment and viva-voce. The viva-voce can also be arranged in the conferencing mode.
A student who fails in any of the paper shall be allowed to appear in the second examination for improvement. This relaxation is being provided for the session 2019-20 only in view of this unprecedented COVID- 19 pandemic and this shall not be treated as a binding precedent.


2. The students of UG I year classes of the session 2019-20 will be promoted to UG Il year in the current session 2020-21 and shall be allowed to attend classes in the second year of their course and, in between, whenever it is feasible to hold the examinations the same will be arranged. In the worst case this exercise may be carried out during the Winter Vacation so that the academic calendar is not disturbed.
The duration of the examinations shall be of two hours only and students will have to answer any four questions or accordingly.

3. The students of UG II year class of the session 2019-20 will be promoted to UG Ill year, in the current year 2020-21. The students promoted to UG Ill year are required to submit their forms for subject allotment in the Dean office of their faculty latest by 27.08.2020.
They shall be allowed to attend classes in the third year of their course and, in between, whenever it is feasible until mid-October 2020, to hold the examinations the same will be arranged. The duration of the examinations shall be of two hours only and students will have to answer any four questions or accordingly.

The assessment of the students in the practical laboratories will be done on the basis of assignment and viva-voce. The viva-voce can also be arranged in the conferencing mode.
If it is not feasible to conduct the examination even by mid-October 2020, the weighted average of marks obtained in the first year and the previous performance shall be considered for the preparation of the mark-sheet for the second year of their course.
If any student is not satisfied, they can write examinations for second year for all the subjects in parallel sessions whenever it is possible. This relaxation is being provided for the session 2019-20 only in view of this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and this shall not be treated as a binding precedent.


4. The students of Semester Il, IV, VI and VIll of the session 2019-20 will be promoted to their higher Semesters in the current session 2020-21.
Their evaluation will be done in the similar manner, as specified above, for the annual system as above, following CBCS rules.


5. Reading material of the faculty members of all the classes (department wise) is being uploaded on the “Learning Management System” portal (https://lms.allduniv.ac.in/) of the University of Allahabad.


6. Online classes have commenced from 17.08.2020. A student having any problem in this regard should contact the Head of that particular Department.


7. All students who are promoted to higher classes are required to pay their fees latest by 07-09-2020
